History

Founded in the Black Forest of Germany, the Kromer factory began manufacturing locks in 1868. The Protector Schloss was awarded the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1874. This lock was produced for more than 125 years and sold around the world. [1] Kromer joined with Unican in 1997, and was later acquired by the Mauer company, forming Mauer Kromer GmbH. Unican was taken over by Kaba.

May 1st, 2002, the newly founded Lebtig Schließtechnik GmbH & Co. took over Kromer production.
