The company HOBES was founded in 1992, after privatization of state company BRANO, which was founded in 1950 and which was manufacturing mortice locks, door closers (which became ubiquitous in the Czech Republic) and other door hardware. It is located in Horní Benešov, in the Czech Republic and first letters of the city name form the base of the company name.
Hobes produces wide variety of the door hardware; most of the locks produced are mortise locks.
