Mul-T-Lock is an Israeli lock manufacturer founded in 1973 by Avraham Bachri and Moshe Dolev. The motivation behind Mul-T-Lock began in 1972 when an old lady neighbour of Bachri's (A carpenter by trade) ran him to him and asked him to install and build her an unbreakable door, due to the increasing burglary's in the neighbourhood where burglars just smashed the door to get in. A while after, he spoke to a friend, Moshe Dolev, who was an engineer who had just got back from a flight and was very impressed with the new doors in AL EL airplanes. After installing the locks Bachri consulted with Dolev and the two (Bachri and Dolev) designed a multi-point locking system.<ref>[http://www.mul-t-lock.co.uk/about_history.aspx Mul-T Lock Group Company History]</ref> They went on to form a company around their system, aptly named “Mul-T” Lock. They originally proposed to use Yardney cylinders but the cost for them didn't work out, so they decided to make their own cylinders.  The company gained international popularity over the next thirty years, designing and patenting a multitude of locking systems. Mul-T-Lock is currently one of the most recognized names in security, being used in a wide variety of high security installations. Mul-T-Lock was purchased by the ASSA-ABLOY group in 2000.

History

Mul-T-Lock is an Israeli lock manufacturer founded in 1973 by Avraham Bachri and Moshe Dolev. The motivation behind Mul-T-Lock began in 1972 when Bachri's neighbour asked him to build and install a secure door. After installing the locks, Bachri discussed the design of secure doors with Moshe Dolev. The two designed a multi-point locking system.[1] They formed a company around the system, named Rav-Bariach. In 1985, the company was aptly re-named “Mul-T" Lock.

Mul-T-Lock gained international popularity over the next three decades, designing and patenting a multitude of locks and locking systems. Mul-T-Lock is currently one of the most recognized names in security, being used in a wide variety of high security installations. Mul-T-Lock was purchased by the ASSA-Abloy group in 2000. Rav-Bariach still exists as a manufacturer of high-security doors and windows, and even shares the Mul-T-Lock logo.
