Principles of operation

The 747 is a standard pin-tumbler padlock with five pin stacks.

Disassembly instructions

The 747 comes in two types; One version has a sliding piece of metal on the bottom, the other has a screw-retained core retainer and small metal shield.

  • Unlock the padlock and free the shackle.
  • Unscrew the screw in the shackle toe hole.
  • Remove the core protector
  • Remove the core
  • Press down on the shackle to ease tension on the locking balls and tap lock on hard surface to remove the cam.
  • Remove the locking balls (they will be free once the cam is removed).
  • Remove the shackle retaining screw. This comes from the factory filled with a grey epoxy. Remove the epoxy then use an allen wrench to remove the screw.
  • Remove the shackle and shackle spring.
