The No. 605 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 605 is a solid body padlock with an inner cylinder that uses four pin stacks and contains security pins. Unlike most padlocks the No. 605 is a mono block padlock meaning the shackle is a straight piece of metal that slides up and down to lock the padlock. This lock is often used to secure trailer couplers.

The No. 605 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and security pins in various chambers. The No. 605 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 605 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. The lock is nonfunctional once disassembled because the padlock body acts as the cylinder for the lock.

Vulnerabilities
The 605s reduced pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers despite having spool pins. The No. 605 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
The No. 130 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 130 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and one or more security pins in various chambers. The No. 130 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 130 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. The lock is nonfunctional once disassembled because the padlock body acts as the cylinder for the lock.

Vulnerabilities
The 130s reduced pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers despite having spool pins. The No. 130 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

Master Lock is an American lock manufacturer that produces low security padlocks, chain locks, gun locks, and various other lock related equipment. Master Lock is currently the world's largest importer of padlocks and related security products. They are best known for their laminated steel layer padlocks that use warded and pin-tumbler designs. Their combination padlocks are also widely used on lockers in schools throughout the United States.

__TOC__

History
Master Lock was founded in 1921 by Harry Soref, P.E. Yolles, and Sam Stahl. Soref invented and patented a padlock in 1924 that used laminated layers of steel for extra protection. Padlocks of the time were all hollow and suspectible to various forced entry techniques, particularly impact with a hammer. Soref's inspiration for the design was from bank vault doors and battleships of the time.

Soref's design went on to be wildly successful, with federal agents placing large orders. Many of these padlocks were used to lock down establishments that disobeyed prohibition laws.

In 1939 Master Lock moved to their current facility at 2600 North 32nd Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Harry Soref died in 1957. He was succeeded as president of Master Lock by co-founder and long time friend Sam Stahl.

"Tough Under Fire" campaign
In 1973, Master Lock ran a famous Super Bowl ad where one of their locks survived being shot by a sharpshooter, thereby proving its durability, thus the slogan "Tough Under Fire". Master Lock would continue running similar ads during future Super Bowls, spending almost their entire annual marketing budget on the single commercial.

Recently the Discovery Channel's MythBusters tested this famous ad by shooting a Master Lock padlock by a rifle, capturing the results on film. As the famous Super Bowl ad depicted, Master Lock passed the test by surviving the gun shot.

The No. 140 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and either 1 or more security pins. The older versions of this lock had only one spool pin in the 3rd position, but Master Lock changed this so that now the lock has varying amounts in varying locations. The No. 140 can only be opened clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 140 cannot be disassembled non-destructively. To disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. Because the lock body is the outer cylinder for this lock, the lock will be nonfunctional if this is done.
Vulnerabilities
The No. 140 is vulnerable to a wide range of attacks. Other then the security pins the reduced pin tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances makes it an easy lock to pick and it is often given to lock picking beginners to learn about security pins. The No. 140 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

Once the padlock is opened, the shackle can be turned and a rivet can be hammered out of the lock. A lockpick (or pick, pick lock) is a tool used in lockpicking to manipulate components to their proper positions. The type of lock being picked and the preferences of the lockpicker will determine which type and style of lockpick used. In most cases, a tension tool is used with the pick to successfully pick the lock. Picks that are specifically designed for rake picking techniques as known as rakes.

The possession of lockpicks is considered illegal in some parts of the world. Lockpicks are categorized as "burglary tools" in many places, but most laws do not consider them such until they are used with the intent to commit a crime.
Picks come in many styles, but the most predominant type are "pop-sickle stick" which have handles that stick out right behind the pick head and resemble a pop-sickle stick. Pop-sickle type handles can come either as a single sheet continued from the head of the pick, or have laminations of other metals/plastics to make the pick easier to hold. Because many picks come without this pickers often put on heat shrink tube or electrical tape to create a handle which increases comfort without jeopardizing too much feedback from the pick.
The possession of lockpicks is considered illegal in some parts of the world. Lockpicks are categorized as "burglary tools" in many places, but most laws do not consider them such until they are used with the intent to commit a crime.
Picks come in many styles, but the most predominant type are "pop-sickle stick" which have handles which stick out right behind the pick head and resemble a pop-sickle stick.
